Week 5

This week was pretty solid, filled with interesting concepts that got me thinking about my own growth and future goals. We spent a lot of time studying Disciple Leadership and the idea of dreaming big, and while these aren’t entirely new ideas for me, they did make me reflect on how I can apply them in my life right now.

Reading A Field Guide for the Hero’s Journey was a good reminder that any significant path we choose is going to come with its fair share of challenges. The first few chapters talk about the importance of resilience and courage, which I know are essential in both personal and professional life. It made me think about the obstacles I’m facing now and how they’re really just part of the process. Chapter 4 was particularly interesting because it emphasized that as we progress, new challenges and opportunities will keep coming our way. This idea of ongoing growth is something I can relate to, especially as I’m trying to figure out where I want to go in my career.

The readings on Disciple Leadership also struck a chord with me, particularly the idea that true leadership is about service and humility. It’s easy to think of leadership as being about authority, but these readings reminded me that it’s more about how you treat others and lead by example. This ties in directly with my role as a manager at the boba and crepe shop where I work. I’ve realized that I need to work on being more patient with my team, especially when they’re having a tough time with certain tasks. The readings helped me see that leading with patience and understanding is important for creating a positive work environment.

The concept of dreaming big also came up a lot this week. We read about the importance of not letting our current situation limit our vision for the future, which is a good thing to keep in mind. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and lose sight of the bigger picture, but I was reminded that setting big goals is key to personal growth. This also made me think about the role of faith in achieving those goals. Trusting in the process and believing in myself, as well as the guidance I receive, is crucial for making those dreams a reality.

The videos we watched added some practical insights too, especially around building trust and hiring ethical people. Building trust is something that takes time and consistent effort, whether it’s with employees, clients, or even friends. I found myself thinking about how I can be more intentional in the way I build trust with those around me, especially in a work setting where relationships are key to success.

Overall, this week gave me a lot to think about, but in a good way. I’m looking forward to seeing how I can apply these ideas in my life, both in my current job and as I work towards my future goals. I’m particularly interested in continuing to develop the principles of Disciple Leadership and finding ways to incorporate them into my everyday interactions. I also want to keep the idea of dreaming big at the forefront, pushing myself to set goals that challenge me and help me grow.

In summary, it’s been a productive week of learning and reflection. The concepts of patience, humility, and setting big goals are things I plan to focus on moving forward, and I’m curious to see how these lessons will shape my journey.
